Addiction to chaos

Disruption is a major problem for many people. In the lecture I gave, I asked for a show of hands regarding the number of people have problems with clutter and chaos. I am surprised to find that people at least half raised their hands.

One of my client to me that he tried to help her sister back in her legs after her brother was sick with pain and he lost a job. Her sister’s house is always correct, and has become so filled with clutter that there is no place to sit or walk. My client, Rebecca, offered to buy her sister a car if he was cleaning house. Rebecca even offered to help her sister clean the house. Rebecca surprised when he rejected the bid sister, although she desperately needed a car. He is reluctant sister can recover from the turmoil.

Why? Why is the “stuff” so important to him?

Addictions located underneath all the fear – of emptiness, helplessness, loneliness and aloneness. Addictions are a way to feel safe from feeling these difficult and painful feelings, and addiction to chaos have exceptions. It’s all about taste have control over security. Disruption, such as Addictions, provides an instant feeling of comfort. However, as with the addiction, clutterer the demand that the more clutter to maintain the illusion of safety and comfort.

When my mother died and my son is cleaning the house, he found a large number of clutter. Meanwhile, my mother always see the house neat and clean, the cupboards and drawers filled with clutter. My son said he found 6 broken hair in a single cabinet. Why does my mother want to keep six broken hair?

My mother grew up during the depression and always have a fear does not have enough. No matter how much he was spending, he did not feel that he had enough. Six of hair that makes him feel safe from fear, even if they do not work.
